I have needed to organize my jewelry for the last four and a half months. No joke. I had a really great system when we lived in North Carolina, and I had a decent master bedroom closet. But when we moved to Belgium and I had no closet, I left my makeup in a bin, for the entire three years of living there. I’m slightly embarrassed to admit this, especially when I am so particular about keeping my life organized and not holding on to things I don’t need. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Better late than never, I guess! And while I would typically recommend donating anything you didn’t use for 4.5 years. I am going to go through my jewelry and see what I own and would like to wear. My sixteen-year-old also wants to go through it. I am DEFINITELY going to have to purchase a new system to use and can’t wait to see what I can find to recommend, and purchase. That’s part of the fun! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first thing we are going to do is gather ALL of our jewelry and put it in once place. I only had the one storage bin and a few boxes of earrings, so this step was simple for me. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next, we are going to take it all out, and go through every item, one at a time. What do you still wear? Or in my case, what would you wear if you knew it existed? What are you only holding on to because you are sentimental about it? Are you ready to let it go? I won’t tell people when to let go of sentimental items. We all have to do that on our own time. But I will encourage you to give sentimental jewelry some serious thought, as you organize it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As you go through every item, deciding what to keep and what to donate, set what you are keeping aside, with like items. This will make the organization process much easier. If you have extra drawers in your bedroom or bathroom, there are so many awesome jewelry trays to organize everything, I love the simplicity of this system, and that everything is separate. I HATE when my jewelry gets tangled. It’s the worst! <\/p>\n\n\n\n
