How to Decorate a Blank Wall
One of the questions I get asked the most by clients and friends is how to decorate a blank wall? Most people know a decorated wall makes a room feel cozier and complete, but knowing where to start is often difficult. So here are my top three go to ways for decorating a wall.
Decorate with mirrors.
First, I love to decorate a blank wall by adding a Mirror. This is hands down, one of my favorite pieces to add. If a mirror will work in the space, I will go out and buy one. Mirrors reflect light and make your space look bigger and brighter. And placed properly, can be used to check out how you look before you head out 🙂
Not only are mirrors functional, but they can also be a great statement piece. Some of my favorites over the years, have been pieces I found at garage sales or thrift stores, and added a fresh coat of paint to. Even a simple mirror, can completely change the look of a space.
Decorate your blank walls with a collage.
Second, I love a good wall collage. There are so many different ways to do this. Currently, my favorite wall collage consists of black and white photos of some of the places we visited while living in Europe. I never get tired of looking at it. But you can do this with family photos, small art, or even a mix. Personally, I don’t like clutter, and I think sticking with a simple color palette, theme or neutrals, helps tie the space together.
Decorate your blank walls with large art.
And finally, you can fill the space with a larger, statement, art piece. It doesn’t have to be some fancy, expensive piece. It can even be a DIY. But one statement piece, can do the trick to make the space feel cozy and complete.
There are so many different ways you can play with these three ideas, and make them fit your personality and your home. Whatever you choose to hang, make sure it’s something you love and enjoy looking at. Don’t just decorate with something that’s trendy. Trends fade, but your home should be a place YOU love.
